The Ice fox (Vulpes x arctica) is a medium carnivore in the vulpes genus. Native to the far flung ice world of Niflheim, the Ice fox is most known for its stunning beauty and resemblance to the Earth creature for which it was named.
Niflheim, though icy, hosts an abundance of small animals for the Ice fox to prey upon. Though not an apex predator, very few native species feed on the Ice fox. This is due to its large size, notable swiftness, and fierce defense of its territory.
Though a fierce predator, the Ice fox was added to the seed vault mostly for its aesthetic qualities and trainability. With enough time and patience, an Ice fox will imprint upon and become loyal to its owner.

The Vulpeculi, or little fox, are small mammals that show an unnatural curiosity with the night sky. The animal has been observed sitting completely still and staring up at the stars, apparently enraptured. One of our more educated scouting teams named them after a constellation he saw in an old star map, and the name stuck. The small animals have become increasingly popular amongst Gatestriders, especially small children. Docile and friendly, the Vulpeculi were awoken when one of the first zones on EM8-ER was seeded. Further study is needed to gauge their effects on the planet and Gatestrider people. Thus far, morale has improved since their awakening. Perhaps some sort of chemical is at work?

The wonderful Omulasa is a creature native to the mountainous regions of the Eclapsa solar system. Docile and often sleepy, the Omulasa are curious creatures that find humans endlessly interesting. Gatestriders consider it a good omen when an Omulasa appears. When an Omulasa graces a wedding or ceremony, Gatestriders will often dress the willing, and almost eager, Omulasa in ceremonial garb for the occasion.

The mighty Emberdon is perhaps the deadliest megafauna that we ever "taimed". An observation post once reported a medium strength earthquake caused by a herd stampeding. Beware should you attempt to claim one as a mount, or there won't be enough of you to bury.

The Krellstriders roam the native plains of the Gatestrider homeworld in packs. Flightless, but capable of skimming and gliding, these fierce avians as sometime tamed by brave Gatestriders to serve as fleet footed mounts.

Ridge Hoppers are curious creatures. Herds of these large beasts can most commonly be found in rough, stony biomes. Their large bodies, covered in a thick leathery, are highly resistant to both extreme heat and extreme cold.
When faced with danger, they will huddle together and let out loud baying vocalizations. This is thought to be a form of warning. As a last resort, the Ridge Hopper can employ their sharp talons to devastating effect. However, when their trust is earned, they can be invaluable pack animals. They are capable of carrying heavy loads without tiring, and can easily navigate some of the toughest terrain Ember has to offer.
I recommend adding their DNA to our database immediately, these creatures may be useful for the foreseeable future.

Panthera x tigris, commonly referred to as a bull-tiger, is one of dozens of species Gatestriders have encountered and subsequently inducted into the genetic vault.
The name, panthera x tigris evolved from a need to distinguish between species originating on Earth, and those discovered while exploring exoplanets.
One of the most recognizable and beloved seed-species, the bull-tiger is known for being both an apex predator, and a loyal and stalwart companion. In fact, if raised from birth, a bull-tiger will allow its companion to ride it; sometimes over great distances. They have also been known to savagely defend their companions from any threat, including other bull-tigers.
The bull-tiger is a large carnivorous mammal with a long tail and a coating of fur that varies in color and length. Though is most commonly orange with black markings. An adult male can weigh almost 900 pounds, while females are slightly smaller; weighing up to around 800 pounds.
